Work Experience
Ajeet Ahluwalia has over 40 years’ experience as a chartered accountant, investment
banker and corporate manager. He
possesses broad business acumen and an analytical approach to make high-level decisions
on investments, considering
risks and liquidity, in addition to devising a solid financial strategy to maximize
profitability. Fully understands
various business models for financing infrastructure, including project management and
partnership development, with
success in sourcing new acquisitions and conducting detailed due diligence.
Skilled in
negotiation, management and
structuring of investment banking deals, having operated as part of a senior management
team recently in large
international corporations. Influential communicator at all levels to present investment
and strategic opportunities at
committee level, engage with new and existing investors, drive fundraising activities
and lead complex transactions,
such as acquisitions and disposals.
- Accelerated growth of Edra Power as lead on five-year strategy development, acquisitions and investments, specializing in the gas power generation, and solar sectors.
- Defined five-year group business strategy for Sime Darby Berhad, involving negotiation of acquisitions, joint ventures and non-core business disposals in power and shipyards including the acquisition of the Battersea Power Station and the joint venture in Healthcare with the Ramsay Group of Australia.
- Negotiated a new business investment deal to establish a 50MW solar power plant in Bangladesh for TRW (Asia) and instigate water purification projects in Malaysia and Indonesia.
- Led the successful turnaround of SAAG Consolidated (M) Berhad as Chief Executive Officer
- Led the RM6BN restructure of DRB-HICOM Group, disposing of car manufacturer Proton to Petronas oil company, merging four Kuala Lumpur stock exchange listed companies and converting RM4Bn in debt.
- Defined and executed strategy for the Brunei Government to resolve a maiden debt issue of US $250M and negotiated a Greenshoe option for an additional US$110M.
